More than half of pets surrendered to shelters never leave! People have no idea how poorly homeless pet populations are treated in this country. We can’t imagine that just two cats will become 1 million in only 10 years if they are not neutered. The slaughter of 6-8 million companion animals in U.S. county “shelters” each year is a fact! Their deaths are frequently terrible with some states using gas chambers. There is little compassion in the current shelter system.

There are huge regional differences in shelter systems across the USA. Residents of the Northeast or West Coast have no idea what is happening in NC, SC, TN, MS and the rest of the country. Unless you are one of the millions of volunteer rescue workers, or a shelter employee, you wouldn’t know. Our goal is to help people learn about what is happening and explain how they can help stop it.
