In Communities with effective Spay/Neuter programs, they have seen a marked decline in the homeless pet population. Even in area with feral cats colonies , a good “Trap , Neuter, Return ” (TNR) program has proven a great way to reduce the population without any killing or cages. Once they are sterile, feral cats and dogs tend to chase away the males who remain intact. Every colony that has had a good TNR program has shown a lower population and eventual extinction. By helping owners prevent accidental litters, closing down commercial breeders, and helping feral colonies, we really can stop the killing . Creating healthy and cage free Adoption Centers to house the homeless will provide them the marketing they need to find a good home.
